Lauren Suchman, Edward Owino, and Dominic Montagu

Lauren Suchman is a Research Specialist at the University of California, San Francisco, where she currently leads the qualitative component of a mixed-methods study that aims to increase women’s access to a full basket of contraceptive options across four countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Suchman specializes in qualitative methods, gender equity and reproductive health, and health systems with a focus on health financing. Edward Owino is a Health Economist with 10 years of experience in health financing in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). His primary interest is to play a steppingstone role in raising and contributing to the health systems strengthening processes to meet the global standard. For the past years, Mr. Owino has focused on building the capacity of the private health sector to increase the value of a woman in the African health system and to introduce more women-centered health solutions and innovations into the continent with the help of the public sector. Dominic Montagu is Professor Emeritus of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California San Francisco. He also is CEO of Metrics for Management, a nonprofit organization that creates evidence-based and standardized performance measures to improve health services in low-and middle-income countries. Dr. Montagu specializes in measurement and quality of care with a focus on maternal health, family planning, and abortion services in low- and middle-income countries.
